Valgalade toitainete peamised allikad on p\u00f5llumajandus, metsade t\u00f6\u00f6tlemine, t\u00f6\u00f6stus, majapidamised, kalakasvatus ja looduslikud allikad. \u00d5hus olevad toitained p\u00f5hjustavad atmosf\u00e4\u00e4ri m\u00f5ju L\u00e4\u00e4nemerele ning need p\u00e4rinevad nii L\u00e4\u00e4nemere valgala kui ka sellest v\u00e4ljaspool asuvatest allikatest. Peamised allikad on mere- ja maanteeliiklus, p\u00f5llumajandus ja energiatootmine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kui \u00fclem\u00e4\u00e4rasest eutrofeerumisest p\u00f5hjustatud protsessid on alanud, siis on neid keeruline ohjata.<\/strong> Setetes aastaid ladestunud toitaineid on keeruline eemaldada ning need p\u00f5hjustavad j\u00e4tkuvalt vetikate ja taimede liigkasvu. Anoksilistes (hapnikupuuduse) tingimustes v\u00f5ib setetest vabaneda fosfor, mis suurendab veekogu eutrofeerumist.
